A Long History of Dental Excellence

Dr. Fetter has been helping patients improve their smiles and lead healthier lives since 1976. Now, nearly 50 years later, he still has a true passion for the work he does. He looks forward to welcoming you to Wayne Family Dentistry and exceeding your expectations through his time-tested approach to great dentistry. Keep reading below to learn more about him:

Why Did You Become A Dentist?

Dr. Fetter’s dad was a chemistry teacher when he was growing up, and he developed a love of science at a young age. He also spent plenty of time talking to a dentist from down the road, which instilled an interest in the career. In high school, he decided that the dental field felt right to him – and he’s never looked back!

There is a lot to love about the dental field, but what Dr. Fetter enjoys most is interacting directly with not only his patients, but the amazing team members that assist him every day. In particular, his favorite services to perform include general care, crowns, bridges, and implants. He also an affinity for oral surgery, which he regularly performs at his free dental clinic in Chester, PA for low-income patients in need.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1972, Dr. Fetter chose to pursue his doctorate at the University of the Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. During this time, he married his wife. His father-in-law turned out to be a dentist as well, and the man was a significant influence in Dr. Fetter’s life and career.

He started his professional dental career as a Junior Dental Officer at Parris Island, South Carolina in the Marine Corps Training Depot. He treasures his military experience, which came with so many wonderful travel opportunities! Later, he returned to Philadelphia and taught at a dental clinic at the University of Pennsylvania for four years. During this time, he received the Thomas Appleton Award for Teaching and was active in leadership positions.

To this day, Dr. Fetter has maintained an active presence in various continuing education programs in order to keep his skills as sharp as possible. He is also a proud member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association.

Outside of the Practice, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Fetter and his wife Carol (a dental hygienist) have been married for 42 years and counting. Together, they have a grown son who is a businessman and a daughter who is a homemaker (formerly an event planner), as well as two wonderful grandsons. His hobbies include keeping up with all of the Philadelphia sports teams, playing golf, and spending time on the tennis courts. He even coached youth sports in the past! He and his wife also regularly travel to both domestic locations and abroad with other couples. Recent locations include the Galapagos, Paris, Boudreaux, Burgundy, Italy, and Spain.
