Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about Wayne Family Dentistry or your dental care in general? If so, then we’re happy to answer it! Below, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions our team receives every day. If you have a question that we haven’t covered here, please feel free to call us anytime and ask. We’re always happy to talk to you and make sure you completely understand your dental options.
How often should I visit the dentist?
All of our dentists agree with the American Dental Association on this one: people of all ages should visit their dentist for routine checkups and cleanings at least twice a year, or once every six months. This is the most conservative and effective way to prevent small dental problems from turning into big ones, plus these services can stop many issues before they even start!
Is flossing really that important?
Yes! Whenever you brush and don’t floss, you’re actually leaving about 40% of your teeth’s surfaces uncleaned, making you extremely likely to develop tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease over time. You only need to floss once a day, and it usually takes less than a minute, but it can literally save you hundreds of dollars in dental care every year.
Is it normal for my gums to bleed every time I brush?
Bleeding gums are a very common symptom, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay! Your gums may be bleeding because you’re brushing/flossing with too much force, so try cleaning your teeth with a lighter touch for about a week and see if that helps. If not, then you may have early stage periodontal disease, and the only way to prevent it from getting worse is to give us a call to schedule treatment. Left alone, it can eventually cause tooth loss!
Do you accept dental emergencies?
Yes! If you or a loved one are dealing with any kind of dental pain and need immediate relief, just give us a call, and our team will work to see you as quickly as possible.
What is the best way to replace my missing teeth?
While we offer a number of different options that can restore any number of missing teeth, by far the best one is dental implants. They are the only treatment that actually restores an entire tooth both above and below the gum line, providing the most lifelike replacement available today. Plus, with simple oral hygiene, an implant can easily last for 30 years or more.
Can you help straighten my crooked/crowded teeth?
Yes, and we won’t need traditional metal braces to do it! We can offer you Invisalign, a system that uses nearly invisible clear plastic aligner trays to straighten the teeth in the most discreet and comfortable way possible. With it, you can get the treatment you need without sacrificing your daily appearance in the process. Plus, the trays are easily removable, meaning you can take them out whenever you need to eat or brush.
What can you do to improve the appearance of my smile?
We can do quite a bit actually! We have an entire selection of cosmetic services that are specifically designed to beautify the smile and eliminate annoying flaws like stains, chips, cracks, and gaps. Whether you just want a minor touch-up or a complete makeover, our team can provide exactly what you need to achieve your dream smile in just a few easy appointments.
Will you accept my dental insurance?
Our team is happy to file claims for any dental insurance plan that allows a patient to choose their own dentist. We’ll handle all of the paperwork so you can rest assured that you’re getting the most out of your benefits at every visit.
