Conservative & Beautiful Restorations
Sometimes, a tooth can become so damaged that it can’t be fixed with a filling, but it isn’t quite bad enough to require a full crown. In these situations, we like to use what are called inlays and onlays, or partial crowns. They are typically made of natural-looking porcelain shaped by a dental lab, and they enable our team to preserve as much of a patient’s tooth structure as possible while restoring it in order to ensure its longevity.
An inlay is similar to a filling, in that it fits within a tooth in order to restore any damage located between the cusps (or biting surface). An onlay, on the other hand, is used to repair the cusps and fits over the top and side of a tooth. Overall, these restorations enable us to get the most results with the least amount of dental work, keeping the smile as happy and whole as possible.
