TMJ/TMD Therapy

Man holding jaw

Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the name for the small hinges that connect your jaw to your head, and they are what give you the ability to eat, speak, laugh, and yawn. They can sometimes develop issues due to strain or injury, causing what is called a TMJ disorder, or TMD. TMDs are characterized by symptoms such as jaw stiffness and pain, frequent headaches, and even soreness in the neck and shoulders. Our team is able to diagnose and treat these issues right in our office, so if you’re in need of relief, be sure to contact us today.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Frustrated man with head in hands

Sleep apnea is the second most common sleep disorder in the world, and people suffering from it often feel constantly exhausted and have problems with focus and memory. If you believe that you may have sleep apnea, or if you have already been diagnosed with it, Wayne Family Dentistry can provide an effective and comfortable treatment with a custom-made oral appliance. This small device is designed to fit within the mouth and keep the airway open throughout the night, enabling a patient to breathe normally and wake up in the morning feeling fully rested.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Hand holding a tablet pill

For those patients who experience quite a bit of fear or anxiety related to visiting the dentist, oral conscious sedation can easily help those nerves melt away. One of our dentists can prescribe you a pill to take about an hour before your appointment, so that by the time you actually sit in the dental chair, you’ll already feel deeply relaxed. You’ll remain awake and able to respond to basic commands, but time will seem to fly by very quickly, and you’ll likely have little to no memory of your visit afterward.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

If you or your child just need a little help to feel comfortable at the dentist, nitrous oxide is a gentle form of sedation that has been successfully used for well over 100 years. A patient simply breathes in the colorless, odorless gas through a small nasal mask, and within minutes, they start to feel warm, happy, and calm. Once a procedure is over and the mask is removed, the gas’ effects wear off very quickly, allowing a patient to go straight back to their day without interruption.

The Wand™

If you’re the type of person who hates getting shots at the dentist, then you’ll love The Wand™. A small, pen-sized device first applies a topical anesthetic to an area before administering more anesthetic very slowly and evenly. The end result is that a patient basically feels nothing right before they feel nothing! Now, you don’t have to worry about that little “pinch” before dental treatments. You can just sit back, relax, and we’ll be finished before you know it.
